Story behind a photo

This might be one of my favourite photos …. My mum with my little daughter, I call them two hearts connected by an inmense love.

I took the photo when my baby was born in the Spring of 2011, at the Principe de Asturias Hospital. The moment, I  saw this litlle angel, I felt that I was the happiest person in the world. Fortunately for us, my baby didn't have any problems during the pregnancy or the birth. However, the actual birth took quite a long time.

That day, I was doubly happy, since my mother could share this event with my Spanish family and me. I remember that some months before the birth, I had been so worried, because my mum needed a visa to come to Spain, and this process is and was so hard, but finally, she could be with us.

When I see this photo, I recall how the nurse brought my baby after cleaning her and all my Spanish family began to take photos of Laura, my baby who was like a famous pop star. Then my mum asked me if she could hold the baby, and obviously I said she could. The moment my mum saw my baby's face, her own face change completely. I had never seen my mother with that face, my mum gave me a sweet cuddle and she couldn't avoid smiling. Maybe in this moment I loved her more (if it is posible), so I understood what she had done for me throughout her life; then I thought I was a lucky person because I had an amazing mother and now I had a fantastic daughter!

My mum is the most special person that I've ever known for many reasons. The first one, she always has positive things to say to people, even if these people are impolite. I can hardly remember a time when she was annoyed or angry with other people. Normally, she is a even-tempered. In fact her smile is her best feature. At the same time, she has an enormous ability to make new friends.

Another reason why I admire her is that she has never stopped working. She is a teacher and although she is retired, she always wants to teach someone. Nowadays, she is a volunteer in a state school in La Paz city. She loves working with children with learning difficulties. Sometimes, I think that she has this kind of energy because she gives energy to and takes positive energy from these children.

For these reasons I keep this photo in a special place in my home, so when I look at it I remember that awesome time that I had with them.

The Grönholm Method

This week in my English class, we have talked about different skills,  which we should try to acquire in a competitive society. Then, I remembered an awesome  film: ¨ The Method", directed by Marcelo Piñeyro.

Through  this  thrilling film, we can reflect  on different complex topics, such as: what  current society demands of  the professional people, what we should understand by a successful person/professional, what we should understand  by a cooperative & competitive attitude, also we could think if  the equal opportunities between women and men professionals is a reality or if it is only a fiction, among other topics.

Finally, with this film, I can't avoid wondering  if our capacities, habilities, qualities and so on, are above of our fears and limitations.
